Examples of recent fossil finds in the Lyme Regis and Charmouth area

An Overlooked Plesiosaur

The plesiosaur (probably Plesiosaurus dolichodirus ) must have been walked over by countless fossil hunters on Lyme's beach until one morning in February 2011, Paddy Howe spotted it on Broad Ledge. The fossil is far from complete and was found over quite a wide area in a period of three weeks. Paddy is confident that all the bones are from the same creature because plesiosaurs are so rarely found in Lyme.

As you can see, Paddy hase prepared the specimen for display in the Museum.
