Research at Lyme Regis

There is a strong tradition of research at Lyme Regis Museum and each year new topics are tackled.  The research team is made up of museum staff and volunteers, including professional geologists and palaeontologists and knowledgeable local historians. To assist with the research, the team have a number of valuable resources available:

Photographic and Postcard Collection - We have a large collection of photographs and postcards which give a superb insight into the history of the town. For more information see Photographic and Postcard Collection.

Lyme Regis Farming Project

Farming ProjectThere is a strong tradition of research at Lyme Regis Museum and each year new topics are tackled. In 2007, two volunteers at the museum, Graham Davies and Ken Gollop, decided to research the farms of the Lim Valley on the Dorset/Devon border with a view to mounting an exhibition.

Research Papers

We aim to develop our research into a series of papers so that we can share our findings.  Some of these papers will relate to objects in the museum's collection and some will take themes and topics of local interest.

Mapping the Town Project

In 2010 we will be embarking on a new project to research and document all the historic buildings of Lyme Regis.
