Education is central to what the Philpot Museum does and we believe
that our award winning displays are a valuable education resource.
We also have worksheets designed for the National Curriculum key stages
1 and 2.

William Buckland's Table
|
|
Made from a slab of inlaid coprolites.
Known as Buckland's Dinosaur Poo Table!
Buckland's son Francis remembered this table in his father's
drawing room, where "it was often admired by persons who had
not the least idea what they were looking at!" |

The Long-case clock of about 1740 has a plaque
on it which reads:
'MEMORIAL of the Dreadful Storm, which on the Morning of the 23rd
of Nov. 1824, laid waste the Western Coast. A House situated at Lyme
Cobb occupied by Mr Peter Walker was entirely destroyed by the Violence
of the Waves. The Clock was recovered from the Ruins which were thrown
upon the Shore, and has been put in a state of complete repair by
John Hallett, Watch Maker, of LYME REGIS, DORSET'. |
These are only two of the many
items which figure in our National Curriculum Worksheets.
