Leon Dore – Portland Coast
26 July - 4 September
26 July-4 Sept
Rotunda Gallery, Lyme Regis Museum
Fascinated by the rocky coastline of Portland, Dorset artist Leon Dore was determined to find a less figurative and more authentic response to its unique mixture of Mesolithic geology, quarrying, natural rock fall and erosion. Form was for him the dominant feature, and colour would be minimised to black, white and brown, with the blues behind changing with the weather and the seasons. The results of his developing vision of the coast is displayed chronologically in this exhibition.
