The story of the Mary Anning token, now on display in Lyme Regis Museum, was picked up by no fewer than three major national newspapers this week:
- The Daily Telegraph carried an article The fitting find of fossil-hunter Mary Anning’s birthday token, 200 years on, which includes a photograph of Museum Director David Tucker holding the token, as well as a quote from him: “The disc is a culturally significant artefact and the way it was found is wonderfully serendipitous.”
- The Daily Mail featured the same photo in its article Metal token given to Britain’s first fossil hunter as a birthday present by her father discovered 200 YEARS after she lost it on a beach
- The Times also covered the story in a short piece Dinosaur-hunter’s lost gift turns up at beach 200 years on
