Museum at Home > Rubbish From The Tip
These objects have been collected from the beach to the East of Lyme Regis.
They emerged from the mud and earth following the landslip in 2008. At the top of the cliff in the area of the landslip was the Victorian rubbish tip for Lyme Regis. This revealed many unusual items and fragments of objects, including a glass eye, a set of false teeth and many different types of bottle.
People continue to go fossicking on the beach and many interesting finds are still made, including in 2020 a Nazi long service police medal. Lots of coloured glass and fragments of pottery are also found.
