February Half Term Activities at Lyme Regis Museum

Lyme Regis Museum is offering a varied programme of family-friendly activities this February half term, combining hands-on creativity, interactive learning and local history in the heart of the Jurassic Coast.

Throughout the half-term holiday, visitors can explore the Museum’s interactive galleries, with displays designed to engage children and adults alike. From fossil discoveries to the people who shaped Lyme Regis, there is plenty to discover, whatever the weather.

Families can also enjoy quiz trails, encouraging young visitors to explore the Museum and learn along the way.

This half term also features a programme of special events and activities. Creative visitors can take part in a Print Making Workshop, offering the chance to learn printmaking techniques and create a unique design inspired by the Museum’s collections. Younger visitors can step back in time with In the Footsteps of Mary Anning, an interactive session exploring the life, discoveries and legacy of Lyme Regis’ most famous fossil hunter.

Museum Learning and Education Officer, Kieran Satchell, will be giving a talk on Scelidosaurus on 14th February – one not to miss for all palaeontology enthusiasts! For those interested in local history, on 18th February the Museum will host a talk by John Dover entitled Lyme Regis and the Discovery and Development of the New World’. The talk will explore and explain the influence of Lyme Regis and some of its key inhabitants on the discovery and development of the New World and creation of English America and the British Empire.

Guided Fossil Walks will also run during half term, led by experienced guides along the UNESCO World Heritage Jurassic Coast. These walks offer the opportunity to learn how to spot fossils safely and responsibly, with recent walks uncovering exciting finds! Advance booking is recommended.

The Museum shop will be open throughout half term, stocked with fossil-themed gifts, books, games and locally inspired items, ideal for families and young explorers.

Lyme Regis Museum is open daily during February half term and offers a welcoming, child-friendly experience for visitors of all ages.
